Guest sentiment
A snapshot of what local diners frequently mention about this location.
"Great Valentine's Day experience. There was a line coming out of the door as we approached. It filtered through quickly and our party of 4 was seated at a 6 chair table with plenty of elbow room. Steak, shrimp, spaghetti, wings, fettuccine, calamari were all good. Pass on the Tiramisu dessert. Great service and atmosphere."
"LOVE the antiquated atmosphere! Comes with exceptional service & even better food. Sorry that it took so long to find this place! Piano player was a plus. Great restaurant for special occasions."
"Our waitress was delightful and the food was great. I love the atmosphere and the history of this restaurant as it pertains to the prohibition era and the purple gang. There was a man playing a grand piano on stage as we ate. If those walls could talk, they would have so many stories to tell. A little birdie told me that the building is haunted as well."
"We stopped here for the first time for dinner and we had a fantastic time. We love the old school dinner club vibe. The decor inside and the piano on stage definitely makes you think of the days when it's was all about good food and good customer service. We had both, our server was excellent, and the food was too! We got their signature cheese garlic bread and the calamari both were delicious! Then we ordered the rib steak and the porterhouse with a loaded baked potato, and the angel hair pasta with garlic butter sauce as our sides along with salads with their homemade ranch dressing. The salads and the sides were all great and the hand cut steaks were cooked medium like we asked. My wife could almost cut her ribeye with a fork it was so tender. Their house zip sauce that comes on the steak definitely complimented the flavor of the steak too. We finished off the meal with a slice of blueberry cheesecake and a piece of pineapple upside-down cheesecake to go. Both were superb! For a first time visit we were super impressed, and plan to return again to try some of the other tasty items on the menu! Thank you for a great experience!"
"Fantastic experience from start to finish. The steak was cooked perfectly and full of flavor, and the sides were just as good. Our waitress, Carol, was outstanding—friendly, attentive, and genuinely made us feel welcome. She checked on us at just the right times and made the evening even better. Great food, great service, and a great atmosphere. We’ll definitely be back!"
"This was my first time going but the atmosphere was really cool and I want to go back to try more things. The have hard bread sticks and you get 2 complimentary pieces of their bread, which was good. I had the porterhouse and it was not great. Which was disappointing because I had read many reviews saying how great the steak is. That won't deter me from going back or trying another cut. My husband liked the chicken parm. The chocolate cake was yummy. I also got the tiramisu for my daughter. It did not have a strong espresso taste so it was different but it was still good. The history and ambience is cool. I only took one photo to show my kids but it doesn't do it any justice."
"What a treat! Enjoyed a lovely dinner in the quaintest of places - amidst the warehouses and seediness, an old Italian restaurant straight out of prohibition. Crystal chandeliers, white linens and gold gilded wallpaper, a stage with pianist. Wow. Highly recommend the escargot to start. Nice wine and NA beer offering. Reservations helpful. Highly recommend this spot."
"First-time visit, but it won't be my last. One of my best dining experiences ever, and I'm – well, let's just say I'm a lot of years old. I had the filet mignon, and it was perfect – flavorful and cooked exactly right. Same with the baked potato and the "burnt asparagus," which of course is not actually burnt, but is lightly browned on the outside, while remaining tender on the inside. Delicious. Each of our party of five had different things, and I don't remember who had what, but all five of us felt it was absolutely first class food, atmosphere, and service. Chase, you're the tops! Oh, and their lemon meringue pie corrected my long-held belief that all lemon meringue pies are equal. They're not. This was the best ever, the perfect combination of sweet and sour that a lemon meringue pie should be. All in all, five stars just isn't enough to do this restaurant justice."
